With more than 25 years of experience in Africa, wildlife enthusiasts Karen and Brian Cockburn formed Africa Travel Centre to
share their love for the continent.
Brian, born and raised in Zimbabwe, has been professionally involved with Africa's wildlife through research and tourism for 14
years. After graduating from Technikon Witwatersrand in South Africa, he began guiding nature based safaris on the Zambezi River
and Matusadona National Park. Brian then moved to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe where he guided rafting trips in the Batoka gorge of
the Zambezi and also spent time in Botswana's Okavango Delta, Savuti, and the Moremi Game Reserve.
Furthering his career in wildlife guiding, Brian started his own safari operation in Victoria Falls upon his return to Zimbabwe. For 3
years, he developed new products and training programs for special interest guides, conducted walking safaris in the northwest and
canoeing safaris on the Zambezi between Kazangula and the Falls.
After completing an intensive 5-year program, Brian obtained his professional guides license in Zimbabwe and shifted his interests to
Tanzania where he was a pioneer in safari programs in the Selous Game Reserve and the Ruaha National Park.
Karen has also spent many years living in Africa and has assisted a wide range of travelers and nature enthusiasts by arranging trips
to her favorite places. With 3 generations of her family involved in African tourism, she too has developed a love for what Africa has
to offer.
