South Africa: Kalahari Gemsbok

Park Overview

Nestled between Botswana and Namibia, this park, with its vast open spaces and endless horizons, is one of Africa's true unspoiled ecosystems. The red sand dunes, sparse vegetation and dry riverbeds of the Nossob and Auob Rivers provide excellent photographic opportunities. Despite frequent droughts and extremes of climate, the Kalahari Gemsbok is home to a great number of wildlife, as its plains teem with animals of virtually every description. The infamous Kalahari lion, the agile gemsbok, and the colorful raptor share this space with countless others. The park is open all year round with the best time to visit being February to September.
